One of the important factors in the formation of one's belief is knowledge and sources of knowledge. The main reason for the separation of sects; sources of knowledge and interpretation of these sources. What should be the sources of knowledge is one of the issues that occupy the human mind since the earliest times. For this reason, knowledge and knowledge sources emerge as an important subject for every belief and science branch. It is seen that the theologians are in disagreement about the definition of knowledge. Linguistic scientists, philosophers and theologians have dealt with the subject, but have not made a common definition. Moreover, according to some theologians, especially Râzî, it is not appropriate to define knowledge. Gazzâlî, who had a significant influence on subsequent theologians, included his knowledge of the definition of knowledge until the time he lived. In this context, he examined the knowledge definitions up to his own period and made the necessary criticisms. According to him, knowledge cannot be described with a real definition. However, it is possible to explain the knowledge through partition and example. In the article, the definitions of theologians were examined, and an assessment was made.
