Abstract

Two schools formed in the Shi’a doctrine until the fifth century, they are usulia and akhbaria. Al-Akhbaria refers to the imams in all the information. Al-Usulia is concerned with mental reasoning with an interest in rumors (hadiths). In both traditions it is seen that the issue of mariifetullah was studied in the period up to the 5th century. Al-Usuli tradition examines the issue of marifetullah on a theological basis. When the narrations are taken into consideration, it is determined that the akhbari tradition has revealed a wisdom mârifetullah beyond theological context. Many narrations about marifetullah are attributed to imams. In these narrations, it is seen that marifetullah and marifetü’l-imam are intertwined
