Modern Dünyada Etnik ve Dini Çatışmalar

Özet

Ethnic conflicts can be considered one of the oldest problems of mankind. Although there is research that ethnicity has different sources, the fact that one feels part of an ethnic group is a major factor in shaping one's identity. Conflicts arising from the formation of perceptions of ethnic identity and its politicisation, accompanied by causes at the individual/group, state and international levels, tend to be long-lasting and destructive. In addition, conflicts involving the same ethnic groups spread across different countries can lead to the spread of the problem by involving other countries where these groups live in the conflict environment through contagion effects. On the other hand, attempts to solve ethnic problems by suppressing them lead to an increase in the perception of ethnic groups, rather than ending them. It is therefore important to recognise and manage the diversity of ethnic identities. The purpose of this study is to present conceptual and theoretical debates about ethnic conflicts and their historical development through examples, and to examine the causes of ethnic problems. In the article we will try to consider ethnic and religious conflicts in the world, as well as the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which occurred on ethnic grounds at the present stage of society development.
