Abstract

Today, with the advantages of the Internet and developing software, digital fields are rapidly developing, with the process of web technologies starting with monologue in 2004, people-oriented, interactive web technology with many features, where people can create and share content on the internet, such as youtube, Insagram, whatsApp, facebook and twitter. Many social media platforms have entered our lives in the social-economic and cultural areas and have now left their process to smart web technology focused on virtual validity. In parallel with the development of web technologies, intelligence, whose main purpose is to gather information and receive news, is fed by using only human, geographical location, measurement and signature, technical and financial information collection methods according to the conditions of the day, as well as both intrusive and intrusive through open or closed social network accounts. As a result of the collection, analysis and use of information with non-intrusive tools and methods, a new category has emerged, called social media intelligence, where detection and analysis are made with more automated efficient logarithms than the human element. In this new intelligence process, which is called SOCMINT, the data types needed are defined first, and a plan is made with which tools the data will be collected. Various software and applications are supported so that data can be collected on social networks. This generated data is passed through a series of analysis methods and confirmed. Finally, the intelligence information obtained is securely delivered to the right people. In this context, the aim of the study is to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of social media intelligence, which is created from social media accounts and information shared on social networks, which bring many innovations to our lives individually and socially, and suggestions will be presented for its more effective use.
