INVESTIGATION OF THE ATTITUDES OF STUDENTS PLAYING SPORTS IN DIFFERENT BRANCHES TOWARDS SPORTS

Abstract

In this study; It is aimed to examine the attitudes of students who do sports in different branches towards sports. The research has been done by using descriptive scanning model. Relational scanning model was used to find the relationship between variables. The universe of the research consists of University students studying in Istanbul in the 2020-2021 academic year. The sample of the study was composed of 207 students, 68 of whom were female and 139 were male, who were studying in associate degree, undergraduate, graduate and doctorate programs in different branches in Istanbul in the academic year of 2020-2021. As data collection tools, "Personal Information Form" prepared by the researcher and "Attitude Scale towards Sports" developed by Koçak (2014) were used. As the data sets show normal distribution, independent groups t-test, one-way analysis of variance for multiple comparisons between different variables and tukey test were used to determine the relationship between variables and correlation analysis was used. According to the findings obtained as a result of the analysis made; Significant differences were found between the attitudes of athletes in different branches towards sports and the variables of gender, age, educational status, status of being a national athlete, their branch and Covid-19 psychological influence (p <0.05). Significant relationships were also found in the sub-dimensions of psychosocial development, physical development and mental development variables (p <0.05). As a result, it was determined that the students who do sports in different branches have a positive attitude towards sports.
