Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze and present studies on environmental education in primary schools at the national level from a holistic perspective under determined themes. The sample of the research consists of 37 studies consisting of 27 articles and 10 theses. All studies included in the study were coded so that the studies could be examined systematically. As a result of the analysis, the data obtained was divided into certain themes and presented in tables and graphs. As a result of the research, it has been seen that the studies mostly aim to determine attitudes or awareness towards the environment and the most frequently used research method for this purpose is the survey. Based on the distribution of studies by year, it was determined that the majority of studies were conducted in 2018-2019. The most prominent concept in the studies is environmental awareness, the scale is the most preferred data collection tool, and the study groups are mostly 4th grade and 4-5th grade students. Considering the common results of the studies examined, it was found that the studies that concluded that the perceptions about the environment changed depending on some variables had the highest number.
