Abstract

The participation of teachers in decision-making processes is crucial for the accurate interpretation, evaluation, and utilization of information, as well as for the establishment of a strong institutional culture. In this context, the main purpose of the study is to reveal the relationship between school administrators’ leadership styles and teachers’ levels of participation in decision-making.In accordance with this aim, a quantitative research design was employed in the study. The research study group is composed of 380 teachers employed in schools located in the Şehitkamil district of Gaziantep. The research data were collected with "School principals' leadership style" and "Teacher participation in decisions" scales. The data obtained from the research were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation, and regression analyses. According to the findings, there is a moderate and significant relationshipbetween school principals’ leadership styles and teachers’ levels of participation in decision-making. Furthermore, it was determined that school principals’ leadership styles significantly predict teachers’ participation in decision-making processes. Based on these results, it is recommended to strengthen the mechanisms that support teachers’ participation in decision-making, considering the influence of principals’ leadership attitudes and behaviors on teachers. In addition, to establish a strong institutional culture, school principals should adopt leadership styles appropriate to specific conditions and circumstances, thereby encouraging teachers’ active involvement in decision-making processes.
