Abstract

The exuberance, generated by the independence manifest of 1905 in Azerbaijan, inspired poets and writers to adopt new points of views and contents. They relinquished the classical tradition to a great extent and began to make analyses and portrayals on the basis of observation with a particular social-realist view. Although they were driven by common objectives, they employed various styles, methods, thinking and language. Therefore it is common to clasify those writers under three main groups: İnkilabî-Demokratik Edebiyyat”, “Romantik Edebiyyat” ve “Maarifperver- Realist Edebiyyat”. Süleyman Sani Ahundov, Abbas Sıhhat, Abdulla Şaik Talıbzade, Sultan Mecid Ganizade, Reşid Bey Efendizade were distinguished by their interest in educational matters and emphasized the importance of family upbringing, school-family cooperation. They mainly drew on folk culture resources in order to attract the attention of children. Consequently a new trend called “Maarifperver-Realizm” emerged in Azerbaijani Literature. In this study we will examine the main literary trends of thefirsthalf of the 20th century in terms of education and up bringing of childrenand look into the use of folk culture resourcesandtheopinionsandeffortsaboutthe role of family.
