AN EXAMINATION OF NOMOPHOBIA LEVEL OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

The new technological developments have brought some new types of additions. Nowadays, a new addiction type for the new generations has been the mobile phones. Nomophobia level of university students is aimed to be examined in this study. The study used a descriptive and cross-sectional study design. The study conducted between June and August 2020 from a branch campus of a university in Black Sea Region. 426 university students participated to the study. The data were collected online due to Covid-19 epidemic illness. The results of the study showed that nomophobia level of students are high. When the data gathered from the Nomophobia Questionnaire distributed to the subdimensions, “inaccessibility to knowledge got 18.80±4.80, “remission of confort” got 18.91±5.24, unable to communicate got 26.38±5.71, losing the online connection got 15.36±6.58 scores respectively. It was observed that it is very important to examine the factors leading nomophobia and develop nomophobia preventing methods.
