Abstract

Quilting is an important textile handicraft in various cultures. This art called quilting in English in the world, especially for the countries such as the United States of America, Canada, Australia, is an important textile tradition that requires hand-made talent, also known in Anatolia. In the research realized in 2013, interviews were conducted with the craftsmen who were engaged in the art of quilting in the center of Çanakkale. As opposed to developing technology, it will be used fort he survival of quilting, one of the important textile crafts, in Çanakkale transferring to the future generations. In tis research, while quilting in Çanakkale is limited to traditional methods, it is understood that the patterns of the quilt masters use ready-made motifs, which have vegetal and geometrical features in the composition. White coloured cotton fabrics for lining consisting of 42-46 warp yarns in one cm, 100 % cotton fibre is used as filling material.
