CRITICAL APPROACH TO MODERN SOCIETY AND ART

Abstract

In this paper, fundamentally, criticism and evaluations regarding modern society and art resulted from behaviours of such society was provided. In the first section, modern term was briefly explained, and two different uses of the term modern was emphasised. In the second section, changes of art during 18th and 19th century were considered. In the third section, problems occurred from classification were motioned. Classification here covered science in general, and fine arts in more specific way. Certain incorrect aspects of classification types were criticised with comparative method. Different nature of art and science was indicated. In the fourth section, evaluations regarding existence problem of modern arts were provided. In this section, problem of whether accepting art as object of what is being created was evaluated rather than quality of art. Subsequently, relationship between existence problem and world wars, technical developments, and progressive approach were examined.
