Abstract

ABSTRACT Alâüddevle Bozkurt Bey, who ruled the Dulkadir Principality between 1480-1515, is one of the most powerful rulers of the principality. The period of Alâüddevle Bozkurt Bey is very important in terms of both political events and social and cultural characteristics. Upon the death of Şehsuvar Bey, first Şahbudak Bey and then his brother Alaüddevle Bey ascended to the throne. Alaüddevle Bozkurt Bey, one of the three sons of Süleyman Bey, remained on the Dulkadirli throne for approximately 36 years between 1480-1515. During his reign, Alaüddevle Bey pursued a policy of protecting the independence of the Principality and expanding its borders. In this period when the military and political power of the Ottoman and Mamluk states were high, he tried to protect the lands of his Principality, which became the area where the two states struggled and tried to bring these two great states against each other. Especially since the 15th century, the Dulkadirli lands and the Eastern Anatolia region became a region where the Ottoman-Mamluk-Akkoyunlu rivalry started, and for this reason, the Ottoman and Mamluk States tried to protect the Dulkadir Principality against each other. Our aim in conducting such a study is to try to examine the most powerful ruler of the Dulkadir Principality, Alaüddevle Bey period, and its relations with the Ottoman Empire and the Mamluk State in an objective and detailed manner in political and military terms.
