THE ATTITUDE OF MUŞ ALPARSLAN UNIVERSITY STUDENTS REGARDING SPEECH SKILLS

This study was conducted to determine the attitudes of Muş Alparslan University students towards using speaking skills. In the research where descriptive scanning method was used, the personal information form and the speaking skills attitude scale, which were used as data collection tools, were delivered to three hundred and forty-two students via Google forms and the data obtained were analyzed using frequency, percentage and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) techniques with the SPSS 27.00 package program. It has been determined that the university students participating in the research have a generally positive attitude towards speaking skills. 96.46% of the students of Muş Alparslan University, who participated in the study voluntarily, liked to speak beautifully and effectively, 83.92% liked to express their feelings and thoughts verbally, 96.49% of the students stated that reading books is beneficial in good and effective speech. 95.91% of them thought that gestures and gestures are important in beautiful and effective speech. However, 87.14% of the students thought that lectures related to verbal expression should be included in the faculty curriculum, 79.53% thought diction courses were useful to speak beautifully and effectively, and 59.36% of the students thought that it was necessary to speak beautifully and effectively. It was determined that he wanted to go to the course. These results are important in terms of showing that students love to speak, but that there should be lectures about speaking in the faculty curriculum, and it would be appropriate to open courses so that students can speak more effectively and effectively.
