Abstract

Within the scope of the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic, which affected the whole world and announced as a pandemic by WHO on 11 March 2020, urgent measures have taken by international organizations and governments to restrict social life. Education is one of the main areas affected by the pandemic. In our country, which has 207 universities and where 7.5 million students receive education, various preventive activities have been developed by the Higher Education Institution and universities to prevent the spread of the epidemic and to ensure that formal education is not interrupted. In this study, management paterns of universities in various countries considering educational activities, measures taken in universities during the pandemic in Turkey and technological and content features of distance education activities are aimed to be examined. In the study, the distance education capabilities, strategies and implementation styles of universities at the beginning of the new coronavirus (Covid 19) epidemic and afterwards are examined and defined. Measures taken by universities in order to sustain education and training against the risk of stopping these activities due to the pandemic in the world and in our country, the state of educational activities, the technological and content features of distance education were discussed.
