Abstract

EVALUATION OF BAKİ AND MUSTAFA ALİ IN CONTEXT OF THE ANXIETY OF INFLUENCE

American critic Harold Bloom’s theory ‘The anxiety of influence’ analyses the odipal relation between poets. According to this theory every poet lives in shadow of former leading poets. This is an undesirable situation and the poet should create his own style with 6 revisionist stages. This 6 stages don’t have to be cronic and it is not a must to have it all. Bloom calls this stages as Clinamen, Tessera, Kenosis, Askesis, Apophrades, Daimonic. Bloom states that these names are arbitrary and can be changed. This theory was put forward at Western literature but it is possible to practice it on Divan literature. İn this study we used this theory on relation between Baki and Mustafa Ali from Gallipoli. Mustafa Ali admires Baki so much that he writes parallels for him. But the wish of being the best promopt him to write satires to Baki. İt is seen that this relation between Baki and Ali can be handled as clinamen and tessera and in this study this stages is examined.
