An Investıgatıon on Borderlıne Personality Disorder

The aim of the study is to examine the etiology, diagnostic approach and treatment approaches of Borderline Personality Disorder. BPD, which is in the category of personality disorders, is defined as a personality disorder that can have destructive effects on social relationships, characterized by impulsivity, emotional lability, and complex defense mechanisms against ambivalent feelings. Clinically, symptoms such as difficulty in emotional regulation, aggression, poor impulse control, and recurrent self-harm are observed. It is a serious mental disorder affecting a population of 0.7% to 3.5% in the general population. It is accepted that biological, psychological and social factors play a role in the development of BPD. In this context, it is accepted that neurological reasons, attitudes and behaviors such as neglect, abuse, separation and loss of the parent / caregiver in the early childhood stage, and the pathology in internalized object relationships play a role in the development of this disorder. Correct diagnosis in BPD is important in terms of correct treatment and interventions and in order to accurately predict the clinical course of the disease. BPD is a difficult but still possible disease to treat. There are also approaches in which psychopharmacological and psychotherapeutic approaches or both are combined as treatment approaches. It is seen that Transference-Focused Psychotherapy comes to the fore in the treatment of this disorder.
