Abstract


RESEARCH OF THE SIGNIFICANCE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DIFFERENT DEMOGRAPHIC CHARACTERISTICS AND PERCEIVED STRESS OF THE EMPLOYEES

Stress is one of the facts of daily life that cannot be ignored, and individuals encounter many stress factors in their daily life. It is suggested that stress is not only related to the physical or mental health of the individual, and also it is related to the working conditions and demographic characteristics of the individual. The purpose of research is to determine the relationship between perceived stress and demographic characteristics of people working in big market chains. A total of 794 people participated in the study and the age range is 18-60. Demographic characteristics and perceived stress scale were used to reach the study results. The dependent variable of the study included perceived stress and the independent variables included more than one demographic characteristics belonging to the employees. Within the scope of demographic characteristics, gender, age, educational status, title, marital status, working year in the workplace, total working year, weekly working time, negative effect of customer density on physical condition and negative effect of customer density on psychological status were evaluated. Stress differs significantly with gender, age range, education level, title in the workplace, negative effect of customer density on physical condition and negative effect of customer density on psychological status however It was understood that preceived stress has no significant difference with educational status, marital status, years of work in the workplace, total working years, weekly working hours.
