Abstract

TURKISH MANAGEMENT CRITIC FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE CULTURAL DIMENSIONS MODEL

While the relationship between manager and employee in some societies is based on mutual trust respect and interaction, in some societies there is no such relationship. Social scientists underline that social culture has an important share in the emergence of this difference. Managers and employees who are influenced by the culture they live in and based on the acquisitions they have learned in social life in internal relations display some organizational and managerial behaviors. Organizations cannot be considered separate from the cultures of which they are members. Therefore the structural conditions of the society value and norm systems play a direct determining role in the formation of any organizational or managerial behavior. As a matter of fact the positive or negative reflections of the cultural codes of societies on administrative life have been the main motivation of many studies. In this study the administrative style of Turkish society was evaluated according to the social cultural dimension that Hofstede classified as 4 basically and 6 in total. In addition to the determinations made some recommendations were made. In the study prepared with the literature review, data and content analysis, different research results related to the subject in question were also mentioned.
