The aim of this study is to determine the difficulties faced by classroom teachers while conducting the music lessons in the first grade and by determining their opinions about the music lessons, and to contribute to the music education processes of the individuals who receive music education in primary school and the functionality of the lesson. The holistic single case design was used in the study, which was handled with the interview method, one of the qualitative research methods. The study group consists of 15 classroom teachers (n = 15) determined by purposeful sampling method who work in TOBB and Gazi Primary Schools in Hakkari city centre. In order to obtain the opinions of the participants, an interview form was prepared by the researchers based on expert opinions. The opinions of the study group were recorded with a tape recorder. The records were transferred to the computer environment by the researchers. Descriptive analysis technique was used to analyse the data collected in the study. In the study, it was found that classroom teachers found themselves inadequate in conducting the music lessons, they mostly used the method of showing and doing during music lessons rather than contemporary teaching methods and their ideas point out that the music teachers should conduct the music lessons at the first level and because of the inadequate physical equipment for music education in schools, teachers could not find an environment where they could provide their professional development.
