Abstract


MIDYAT TURABDIN ZONE CHRISTIAN RELIGIOUS ARCHITECTURE (Archaeological Survey in 2017)

In the historical sources, known as Turabdin, Mardin, Midyat District and the surrounding area of the region, especially the Assyrians, then, East Roman (Byzantine) Empire, Iran (Pers-Sasani), Artuklular, Seljuks and many other civilizations such as the Ottomans it is understood that they established dominance and made it visible in the field of architecture and art. After the spread of Christianity to Turabdin region in early periods, 4-5. from the 19th century on, the cultural texture of the region has become prominent as a religious entrust. The archaeological surveys carried out in Turabdin Region since 2017 with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the supports of Van Yüzüncü Yıl University and the Turkish Historical Society continue in the city of Mardin, Midyat District. In this context, in our report, the importance of Midyat in the religious religious architecture of Turabdin region will be emphasized within the framework of the registered and unregistered immovable cultural assets.
