Şahmeran paintings are privileged in terms of one of the rare of figurative examples of our traditional folk art which peculiar to certain regions; the fact that it reflects the collective consciousness of the deep, inspiring to our important contemporary Turkish painters, pointing out of the social wounds and carrying cult value. The Şahmeran painting tradition has been examined as form, content and essence; in the center the symbols and their meanings were questioned on the basis of the message that conveyed to the community. In this context, the objects and symbols which are housed in the composition diagram of these paintings, which extend from the tradition to modern. Animals and their limbs; Jewelry; plants, fruits and flowers; stylized flowers and other symbols were analyzed and interpreted one by one. What are the main symbols and objects in the Sahmeran paintings: snake, butterfly, fish, snake-headed tail and feet, snake tongue, snake or fish scales, horns, ears, birds, peacocks, pigeons; a variety of jewelery: crown, pediment, crest or thorn, tassel, necklace with heart, yoke or collar, anklet, buckle, earring, ring, neck; Various plants and flowers: palm, carnation, tulip, violet, rose, bud, , leaf, twig, olive branch; stylized flowers such as hatai and penç; other symbols: curtain, sun, ship, hand eye, Hz. Fatima's hand, crown on eye, mirror, chalice, throne, moon and stars.
