Abstract

DISCUSSION OF PLANIMETRIC FICTION IN MOSQUE DESIGN: WHARF MOSQUE DESIGN

When the development of Islamic worship places in the historical process is examined, it is observed that early Islamic masjids were constructed with a transverse rectangular planimetry because of the nature of prayer worship and the belief that the place should be in the direction of the kibble and that worshiping the front line is more worthy of worship. From the Masjid al-Nabawi until the last period of the Seljuks, this fiction continues. Today, the concept of design based on planimetric constructions of centrally planned Ottoman Period mosques continues. Besides the exceptional designs, the physical surroundings of the cities are equipped with central planed and domed glass. Within the scope of the study, "mosque problem", which is a serious issue before the reproduction processes of architecture, is being touched and "Wharf Mosque Design", which is considered to be evaluated in this context, is shared. This design is aimed to open a new space for the mosque problem with the interpretation of liturgical, spatial and structural elements.
